Dear Landlord,

I hope this message finds you well!  I believe that I would be the perfect tenant for your apartment!

I am studying at the Universiteit van Amsterdam, where I am working towards my bachelor’s degree in psychology, and eventually my Ph.D.  My physical and mental health are imperative to me, so I focus on eating whole foods, regularly exercising, and getting enough rest to ensure maximum productivity - a tricky balance that is a tasty pursuit.  In the limited free time I have I enjoy talking with close friends over a cup of coffee or tea or stretching, but most of my time is spent studying, making myself a quiet tenant.

Over the past six months, I’ve grown to feel at home in and love Amsterdam.  I’ve explored every street, marked the coziest seat in my favorite cafe, spent hours at the Rijk, and settled into a routine of watching the sunset over a canal near my current apartment.  I’m looking forward to finding a new rotation of cafes and walking routes near my future home!

My dad, Alexander Lapins, and my mom, Marianna Olshtein, are supporting my academic goals at the Universiteit van Amsterdam.  I have full financial support from my family, who will be covering my rent, groceries, and studies.  My dad is working full-time in New York.

You can view my LinkedIn profile here.

My dad’s, Alexander Lapins, LinkedIn profile is here.

My future home is a place of calm where I can study and revitalize, so I value cleanliness and peace.  From the viewing and images I’ve seen, I’ve fallen in love with your apartment and will upkeep all responsibilities as a tenant.

I’m attaching a letter of recommendation from my current landlord, who lives right below me, at the bottom of this page. Thank you for considering my application - I hope to hear from you soon!

Emmanuelle

Dear Landlord,

My name is Emma, I am 18 years old, and I am a dual citizen of Germany and the Netherlands.

In September, I began my Bachelor's degree in Psychology at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). I am thriving in my studies, and I am grateful for my parents' unwavering support, both mental and financial. However, the course is also very time-intensive, which is why I spend a lot of time at home, in a café, or at the university studying. I use my free time to do the things I love: meeting up with friends for dinner or shopping, exploring Amsterdam, making music, going to the gym, and reading.

I am a clean, orderly, and calm person who values routine. I want to move out of my current shared flat because it is too loud, especially in the evenings, and too messy.

I have fallen in love with your apartment and would love to live there for the rest of my studies or even longer to make Amsterdam the best experience of my life. I look forward to meeting you and planning our future together.

Sincerely,

Emma Vol
